I know what you all must be thinking. Ew, no, those are so ugly, my mom literally wore those a million years ago and thought they were totally cool. Well, guess what — like most interestingly old “ugly”trends, this one is back and it’s hot!
Real talk: I totally understand why these jeans were so hot in the 90′s. They accentuate the best part of a woman: her waist. Hold up haraam police, let me explain. They give this really nice cinched-in look that is achieved with waist belts, all while giving a comfortably modest fit with optimum leg room. No more feeling super constricted in those slim leg or skinny jeans we all think we love so much.
These jeans serve as the focal point of an outfit and look best when paired with a neutral basic top. Below are some ways I styled three different types of thrifted Mom Jeans.
No more unbuttoning the top waist button when you sit down (c’mon, I know you all do it), because now you can actually breathe in your relaxed fit jeans!
If you’ve gotten this far and I kind of sorta convinced you, here’s where you can get them too:
To be honest, you can probably find a great pair of these jeans in your mom’s closet and/or the thrift store. However, hunting for authentic mom jeans can be tough and may require some real digging. That being said, H&M is also doing a couple takes on these so called Mom Jeans.
